urbantalismanJan 8 – Rock and Sea Glass Drilling Lab – 12-4pm. $60. Learn to drill into rock and sea glass to use as pendants, accents or to add in inlays. Line your drilled hole with silver or copper tubing to dress it up! Tips and tricks to keep your stone, safely in place, while you drill. Required: Small drill press or flex shaft, sea glass and/or river rock you want to use in your jewelry. If you plan on drilling rocks and sea glass regularly a drill press will simplify your work! Create your own findings to assemble your pieces. Rock on! Prerequisite: none. (If you don’t want to purchase a drill press or flex shaft prior to class there will be several to share)

Jan 14 – Soldering Lab II – 10-4pm. $95. Intermediate level soldering class that addresses tricky soldering set-ups and personal challenges you are having with your projects. A perfect follow-up for those who took Soldering Lab I – now that you’ve had a few weeks to practice- or for those with soldering experience who need a refresher and want to finesse their skills. Emphasis on tips and tricks to make your set-up lead to a clean soldering join. Students will use butane, Smith (acetylene) and Smith Little (oxy & acetylene) torches. Required: butane torch. Most materials included. Students are encouraged to bring in their specific soldering project and challenges to address in this workshop. Prerequisite: Soldering Lab I or some prior soldering experience. Bring lunch.

Jan 15 – Bezel Setting Lab – 10-4pm. $95. Follow up your soldering classes and learn how to bezel set stones, cabochons and glass domes. Prerequisite: Soldering Lab I or basic soldering skills. Some materials included. Students are welcome to bring objects to bezel set. Bring lunch.

Jan 21 – Enameling Lab – 10-4pm. $95. Learn how to enamel on copper and fine silver with a variety of firing (kiln and torch-fired) and enameling techniques. (If you’ve taken the Bezel Setting Lab you can bezel set your enameled pieces on your own) Prerequisite: basic metalsmithing skills. Most materials included. Bring lunch.

Refunds: You are eligible for a refund if you cancel 7 days before the start of class. If there are less than 7 days, a credit for another class will be issued. No refunds will be given unless your spot is filled by another student. (if class begins on a Saturday you MUST cancel the Saturday prior to class to receive a refund).
